Above All, I am Indecisive

My camera dock still sucks, so it's recycled pron this week.

Diving waaaay back, here's some of the Patons SWS that became my Lizard Ridge.

Bootie #3 of 6 is knitted, though unassembled, which has allowed me to use the rest of that ball of green yarn to start the second border on the first blankie. (Whew! That's a lot of numbers.)

Looking ahead to beyond the baby stuff, I was reminded by a timely Knitty FO that I sort of meant to do an Ella. I love V-shaped shawls! And it occurred to me that I have three yarns, all previous YPF entries, in the stash that would all make beautiful Ellas (if I work to a different gauge, anyway, but that's no fuss)--

Option #1 - MCY Cotton 10/2 in Tempus

Option #2 - MCY Cotton 10/2 in Dragonfly

Option #3 - Claudia Handpaints Silk Laceweight in Turquoise Jeans

Part of me is leaning towards #3, since the others are both 2100 yard skeins that would be a bitch to wind, I know from already having done the third one I used to make a shawl right after I bought them. The rest of me is leaning away from #3, because when I got the silk, I had visions of a shiny, drapey lace tunic for me to wear over my tank tops and skirts in the summer, and those colors go so well with most of my wardrobe. But if I did Ella in #3, I could have a cotton lace tunic instead in #2, if I ever get around to designing it, that is...

Oh, the indecision! Help me out here. What would you pick?

My Camera Dock Sucks

I shouldn't let my lack of pictures stop me from blogging....I took some this morning for my new FO (gasp!) and my current WiP, but I can't figure out why my camera dock isn't working. Bugger.

The FO is a pair of Saartje's Booties, and the WiP, of course, the blankie.

I finished the third ball of Cream and did some rough calculations; using a total of six balls of yarn for the blankie would give me a finished size of 36", while five would end up being 33". After scoping out some baby blanket patterns around the intarsphere, I found both fell within acceptable range for blankies, so I went with the option that let me do the booties!

Of course, without the pictures to show you what I mean about certain things I'd planned on talking about, there is quite a bit less to talk about..... (sigh)

So I'll add a bit about cooking. (snark!)

I sometimes wonder if I'm not a bit too suggestible. There's a thread over at Knitty about apples, and apple butter was mentioned several times. Now, I love raw apples, but I've always hated the texture of cooked apples. No apple pie or applesauce for me, no sirree! But as I was reading, and then later searching for recipes, I kept thinking, well, you cook apple butter about a million times longer, so it must have a different texture....

...and I was right. I bought another sack of apples to go with the one in my fridge, and off I went.

It was a very interesting process. Nothing went into my crockpot at first but thinly sliced apples and sugar. I knew that the moisture from the apples would dissolve the sugar eventually, but what I wasn't expecting was the moment about two hours in, when I went to stir it, and the apple slices just disintegrated under my spoon. One second there were apples floating in syrup--the next it was a sweet-smelling tub of goo. Yummy goo.

I think it's time for tea and toast with apple butter, don't you?
